Clean-Piping Busts Continue In SoCal

Seven SoCal Smog Check shops face criminal chargers from the DA in Los Angeles after a 6 month long investigation by the B.A.R.
All seven shops were involved in “clean-piping” – a method used by criminals to defraud and pass most vehicles that would not pass under normal conditions during the Smog Check Inspection.
B.A.R officials monitored and targeted each station with numerous undercover operations. At each location, vehicles were tested and certified without the car being present. The smog check analyzers were quickly seized for evidence.
Each shop has now been suspended being further action.
Felony charges will also be filled on behalf of the LA County DA’s Office.
